The time has come for a long overdue trip back to the West MacDonnell Ranges. In August 2009 my brother,Trev and I walked the spectacular Larapinta trail. On this occasion we travelled west to east, starting at Redbank Gorge we walked long days in scorching hot conditions, arriving at the Telegraph Station four and a half days later. That was my first taste of walking in the stark, arid heart of Australia and I've been itching to get back ever since. For this trip we have decided to walk the trail east to west, partly for logistical reasons and partly to experience the trail from a different aspect, as well as ending our walk on Mt Sonder's majestic summit.
Stayed tuned for the trip report.
